POSTGAME NOTES

  • UTA ended its season at 21-13 on the season, its third straight 20-win season. UTA went 13-2 at home, 5-10 on the road and 3-1 in neutral site games.
  • Georgia State improved to 24-10 on the season.
  • Georgia State will enter either the NCAA Tournament as an automatic qualifier as the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Champion. The NCAA Selection Show is scheduled for 5 p.m. (CDT) today on TBS (not CBS, as in year's past).
  • UTA played in its first-ever Sun Belt Championship final and its fifth overall conference tournament championship game. The Mavericks went 0-1 in its one season in the Western Athletic Conference (losing 64-55 to New Mexico State in the final) and 1-3 in the Southland. UTA's only conference tournament title victory was an 82-79 win over Northwestern State in 2008.
  • Senior forward Kevin Hervey scored 11 points against Georgia State, giving him 676 points on the season - the second highest single season total in program history. He surpassed Marquez Haynes, who scored 678 during the 2009-10 season.
  • Senior forward Kevin Hervey registered 5 rebounds against Georgia State. He has 282 on the season and surpassed Johnny McDowell (280, 1992-93) for the sixth-highest single season total in program history.
  • Senior forward Kevin Hervey connected on 2 of 8 3-point field goals against Georgia State. He has 77 on the season, equaling Willie Brand (77, 1989-90 & 1990-91) for the third-highest single season total in program history.
  • Graduate transfer center Johnny Hamilton scored 23 points to go with 14 rebounds against Georgia State, his seventh double-double of the season. His scoring total was his second-highest single game total of the season.
  • Graduate transfer center Johnny Hamilton blocked 3 shots against Georgia State, extending his program single season record to 77. His total is also the seventh-highest career total in program history.
  • Senior guard Erick Neal registered 1 steal in the game, giving him 65 on the season, the fifth-highest single season total in program history. He tied Rickey Leggett, who had 65 during the 1979-80 season.
