Box Score ARLINGTON, Texas – Three UTA errors over the ninth and 10th inning lifted Texas State to a 5-1 comeback win over the Mavericks in 10 innings, on Friday night at Clay Gould Ballpark.
UTA (21-32, 11-18 Sun Belt Conference) entered the ninth inning with a 1-0 lead, seeking to post its first 1-0 win in four years. A one-out single, passed ball on a dropped third strike and error opened the gates for the tying run to score and force extras. A pair of errors led to four runs in the 10th inning as Texas State (27-26-1, 15-14 Sun Belt) rallied past the Mavs to clinch the series.
LEADING THE MAVS
UTA saw RJ Williams, Noah Vaughan and Easton Johnson each collect two-hit games. Will Olson, Zac Cook and Christian Hollie each added knocks. Omar Salinas went 3-for-5 with a double.

HOW THEY SCORED
The Mavs broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning, getting a one-out single from Hollie into the right-centerfield gap. Vaughan then lined a single up the middle to put runners on first and second with one out for Salinas. Salinas pulled an RBI single through the gap in the right side, allowing Hollie to motor home for a 1-0 lead.
Texas State tied the game in the top of the ninth inning, getting a one-out single up the middle from Ryan Newman, who took second after the single was misplayed in the outfield. Austin then got a looking third strike on Dylan Paul with Newman on second but Olson was crossed up, with the ball skidding to the backstop to allow Newman to take third and Paul to reach. Jared Huber then tied the game with a first-and-third squeeze bunt.
After the Mavs stranded a pair in the bottom of the ninth inning, Texas State opened the 10th with a single to leftfield from Jonathan Ortega. Luke Sherley then laid down a sac bunt in front of the plate with the throw to get the lead runner pulling Josh Minjarez off the base. Jaylen Hubbard then doubled past the drawn-in third baseman – playing for the bunt – to score Ortega. Derek Scheible then grounded a two-run error to score Sherley and Oretega. Newman followed with RBI double to centerfield.
