Box Score LAFAYETTE, La. -- No. 15 Coastal Carolina plated four runs in each the sixth and seventh inning to post a 12-2 eight-inning win over UTA baseball in the second round of the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Championships, on Wednesday afternoon at Louisiana's M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
UTA (22-34) fell behind to the regular-season champion Coastal Carolina (39-17) as the Chants plated a single run in the fourth on a solo shot before adding four in the sixth and four in the seventh. The Mavs got on the board in the top of the eighth and the Chants ended the game with a homer in the bottom of the frame.Â
LEADING THE MAVS
UTA saw Christian Hollie, Josh Minjarez and Omar Salinas each notch two-hit games. RJ Williams, Will Olson, Zac Cook and Noah Vaughan each added singles, with Olson drawing three walks.

UTA will face Georgia Southern at 9 a.m. CT at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field in an elimination game on Thursday. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
ON THE MOUND
UTA starter David Moffat (3-6) made his first start since March 6. A native of Wichita Falls, Texas, Moffat worked 4.1 innings, allowing four hits and one run, walking one and striking out three. With one out and a runner on second base in the fifth, UTA turned to senior righty Jordon West in relief. West worked one inning, allowing two runs. Brad Vassar took over in the sixth, getting two outs. Andrew Gross opened the seventh, exiting after loading the bases on a hit and two walks. Drew Gooch took over for Gross in relief, getting the final six outs for the Mavs.
Coastal Carolina starter Anthony Veneziano (6-1) worked five shutout innings, allowing five hits and three walks, striking out seven. With a 1-0 lead to open the sixth inning, CCU turned to righty Davie Inman. Inman worked two shutout innings. Patrick Orlando also worked in relief.
HOW THEY SCORED
In the bottom of the fourth, Seth Lancaster got the Chants on the board with a solo shot to leftfield, his 17th homer of the year.
The Chants added on in the bottom of the sixth inning, getting a leadoff double from Kevin Woodall, scoring on Zach Biermann's RBI knock into right-centerfield. A wild pitch allowed Biermann to score from third with two outs. Keaton Weisz then belted his third homer of the year over the leftfield fence.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Chants loaded the bases without an out after a hit and pair of walks. A bases-loaded walk and a two-run double from from Zach Biermann stretched the lead to 8-0. A sac fly scored the ninth run.
UTA got two back in the top of the eighth inning, getting hits from Minjarez and Salinas before a two-run single from Cook.
A sac fly scored the 10th run for the Chants in the eighth, with a two-run homer from Biermann pushing the lead to a game-ending 12-2.Â
