ARLINGTON, Texas - Entering as one of the hottest teams in league play, UT Arlington begins Sun Belt action on Friday night against Louisiana at the Earl K. Long Gym at 6:30 p.m.Â
The Mavericks have won six of their last seven matches on the way to close nonconference action with a 6-4 record. Friday night is setting up to be a milestone night as well as
Zhanelle Geathers approaches becoming the 18th player in UTA history to be a member of the 1,000-kill club. Geathers enters with 988 kills in her storied career.Â
With history on the line, turning back the record books shows success in SBC openers going into the sixth season in the league. UTA is 4-1 when opening league play, and have won its last three league lid lifters.Â
Despite Geathers joining
Madison Hill on the Maverick Invitational All-Tournament last weekend, it was
Madelyn St. Germain capturing UTA's second league honor this week. St. Germain was named the Defensive Player of the Week after grabbing 5.50 digs per set, accumulating at least 15 in all three matches of the tournament.Â
