COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis program is back on the road this weekend for the ITA Texas Regional Championships hosted by Texas A&M. A strong performance this weekend would give the individual winners a shot to compete at the ITA National Fall Championships in Newport Beach, California in early November.
"This is the best opportunity our girls will have to get regional ITA rankings," head coach Diego Benitez said. "I'm very happy with the way practices have developed in the last couple of weeks. I feel we are playing at a very high level and am looking forward to seeing our girls compete in one of the strongest regions in the nation."
Action begins Thursday (Oct. 17) on the campus of Texas A&M at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
Momoka Horiguchi is off to a nice start this fall, boasting a 6-3 record. Liz Chileno and Nanaka Takeuchi are both second on the team with five wins during the fall season. Singles and doubles will begin Thursday morning and end Monday (Oct. 21).
