DALLAS, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team will be competing in the metroplex this weekend, traveling to Dallas to compete in the SMU Red and Blue Challenge at the SMU Tennis Complex from Friday, Oct. 4 to Sunday, Oct. 6.
UTA will be competing in dual matchups with athletes from Abilene Christian, Central Arkansas, North Texas, Northwestern State and SMU.
The Mavs spent last weekend battling weather at the Rice Invitational.
Lucia Natal and
Nanaka Takeuchi both took third place in their respective flights, while
Momoka Horiguchi advanced the consolation bracket championship in her flight. In doubles play, Natal and
Aida Garcia Mendez advanced to the championship match in flight three, but were unable to play the match due to weather.
After this weekend, the Mavericks will have one more fall tournament on their schedule – the ITA Regional Championships hosted in College Station, Texas. The ITA Regional will take place over a four-day stretch, beginning on Thursday, Oct. 17.
