ABILENE, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team wrapped up their second fall tournament of the 2025 fall campaign with the conclusion of the three-day ACU Invite on the campus of Abilene Christian from the Cecil and Judi Eager Tennis Pavilion.
The Mavericks weekend play by strong showings from
Tasnime Ahamout,
Natalia Gonzalez and
Diana Kaibara whom all went 2-1 in singles action over the tournament. Ahamout continued the strong start to her Mavs career by picking up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sam Houston's Adithi Venkatakrishnan and a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Stephen F. Austin's Ana Paula Chavez. Kaibara picked up wins over UTSA's Aoka Nagasawa (6-3, 6-2) and Tarleton State's Adeliya Mukhutdinova (6-4, 6-3).
Gonzalez picked up a first round 6-2, 6-3 victory over Sam Houston's Isabella Garza and a second round 7-5, 6-0 victory over host Abilene Chistian's Jessica Board before falling in the third round to Tarleton State's Clara Sobius in a close 6-4, 6-3 match.
In doubles action, the team of Gonzalez and
Flora Farkaslaki went 2-1 for the tournament. They defeated ACU's Elsa Luthar and Alice Klinteby 6-3 and New Mexico State's Emma Petton and Whitney Moon 6-3.
The Mavs return to action in October for the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth beginning on Thursday, the 9th, and concluding on Tuesday, the 14th.
