Coach Brun Announces @UTAMavsSoftball Signing Class

ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington head coach Peejay Brun announced the 2019 signing class on Wednesday that features five players from the state of Texas.

"This is a special group of recruits because we've been watching them grow over the last three years into confident young ladies," said Brun.  "Their dedication to be students of the game and the energy they will bring on to this team will be exciting to see."

Gracie Bumpurs (Splendora, Texas)
Splendora High School | Impact Gold | 5-10 | RHP
 
Bumpurs is a two-time All-District 21-5A selection, including a first team selection in 2019. She was voted to the 2019 TSWA All-State Team.  Bumpurs was a 2019 First Team All-Montgomery County selection and a finalist for the 2019 Montgomery County Offensive Player of the Year.  In 2017, she was selected as a member of the Second Team USSSA Select 30 All-American. Bumpers helped lead her team to a second-place finish at the USA Elite Select Tournament in 2018 and a ninth place finish at the 2019 PGF National Tournament.

"Gracie will bring a multitude of talent to our team. She is a talented pitcher and hitter.  She has great command of her pitches and at the plate will bring additional power to the team.  We're looking forward to adding her to our battery."

Jessi Carreon (College Station, Texas)
College Station High School | Scrapyard International | 5-4 | 2B, SS
 
Carreon is a four-year letter winner at College Station High School. She holds the CSHS single-season hits record.  During her junior campaign, she hit .417 with a .500 on-base percentage and 25 stolen bases.  Carreon is a three-time 5A First Team All-District selection (2017, 2018, 2019) and the 2019 5A Defensive Player of the Year.  She is a two-time Texas Sports Writers All-State (2017, 2018).  Carreon helped lead her team to the 2018 Triple Crown National Championship and has experience playing internationally with Scrapyard in Japan and Canada.
 
Coach Brun on Carreon…
"Jessi will be a spark plug for our team. She brings high energy that is contagious, along with the ability to cover a lot of ground both in the infield and the outfield. She is a true speedster who is also looking to take the next base. Things in Mav City are going to be electrifying with her around."

Dariane Cram (Dickinson, Texas)

Dickinson High School | Hotshots Premier 18u | 5-3 | OF
 
Cram is a four-year letter-winner for the Gators.  She is a three-time All-Districk 24-6A selection, including a first-team selection in 2019.  She was voted the DHS Softball Most Valuable Player in 2019 and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.  Cram is a two-time Galveston County Girl Athlete of the Year (2018,2019).

"Dariane is someone who plays with pure confidence. She is like dynamite; she may be small and fast but she packs a lot of power behind her bat. The Maverick Family is ready for her to be here."

Reese Scott (Sugar Land, Texas)

George Ranch High School | Scrapyard International | 5-5 | OF
 
Scott is a three-time First Team All-District outfielder for George Ranch High School and was the 2017 Newcomer of the Year for the Longhorns. She is also a three-time Academic All-District selection and member of the National Honor Society.  She helped lead her club team to a runner-up finish at the Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) Nationals in 2019.
 
Coach Brun on Scott…                          
"Reese is a triple threat player. She can hit for power, slap, or beat you with the short game. She will be a great addition to the outfield to add needed depth.  Her dedication to constantly improve her game is highly welcomed into our program."

Morgan Westbrook (Houston, Texas)

Stephen F. Austin High School | Texas Bombers | 5-10 | 3B/1B/OF
 
Westbrook is a Second Team All-District selection both as an outfielder and infielder for the Mustangs.  She is a four-time Academic Excellence award winner. She played club ball for the Texas Bombers, where she was selected for the Texas Bombers Award, and for Scrapyard International.
 
Coach Brun on Westbrook…
"Morgan not only has a big arm while playing the field, but she also swings a big bat. Built with power and speed Morgan will help us out in all aspects of our game. We are excited to have her on our team."
