ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington head tennis coach Diego Benitez announced the men's and women's 2020 spring schedule on Thursday afternoon.
Â
Entering his 15th season at the helm of both programs, Benitez has won over 300 matches with the Mavericks and has appeared in the NCAA postseason tournament on four different occasions.
Â
The men's team will open spring play in Waco on Jan. 18th when they face off against the Baylor Bears. It will be a good early season test for the Mavericks as the Bears finished the season as the 6th ranked team in the country a season ago.
Â
UTA will then play four straight home matches against Cameron (Jan. 25), Prairie View (Jan. 25), Permian Basin (Feb. 1) and Oklahoma Baptist (Feb. 1) before hitting the road again. They will play in one in-season tournament, when they travel to Sacramento State to play in the Golden State Invite on March 6 and 7.
Â
The Mavericks end the season with seven out of eight matches against Sun Belt opponents, beginning March 21. The lone non-conference game will be Senior Night, hosting Southern Methodist at the UTA Tennis Center on April 9.
Â
The Sun Belt Tournament will be held in Peachtree City, Georgia at the Peachtree City Tennis Center from April 16-19.
Â
The women begin the season with a four-game home stretch, beginning with matches against Cameron and Central Oklahoma on Jan. 25. The Mavs will then hit the road for eight out of the next ten matches between Feb. 22 and March 22.Â
Â
Conference play will begin March 14 when they host Troy at the UTA Tennis Center. The Mavs will end the season with six straight home matches, with Senior Night being held against Appalachian State on April 12.
Â
The Sun Belt Tournament for the women will be held in Peachtree City, Georgia at the Peachtree City Tennis Center from April 23-26.
