ARLINGTON – The UTA men's tennis team (4-3) didn't show any rust after a nearly two-week layoff, as they picked up a pair of 4-0 home wins Thursday.

Enrique Pardo got things started against Dallas Baptist, beating Grant McKenzie in straight sets without dropping a game.

Elsewhere, Guanarteme Nuez and Mauricio Del Rio also took care of business for the Mavericks with straight set wins. UTA won the doubles points with wins by Nuez and Del Rio and Pardo and Eduardo Simo.

Miguel Cabrera won his first set, but with the team win secured, his match went unfinished.

Pardo won another singles match against Cameron in the second match of the day to give him his team-leading 12th win of the season.

The Mavericks also got singles wins from Nuez and Del Rio against Cameron. The other singles matches were left unfinished because UTA had already secured a victory.

In helping secure the doubles point, Nuez and Del Rio picked up their second win of the day, which gives them a team-leading six doubles wins this season.

UTA will have more than a week off before the Mavericks return to their home courts for a match against Lamar at 2 p.m. next Friday.
