Weather Alters Sun Belt Tennis Tournament Schedule

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – Due to rain and some small leaks in the roof of the Peachtree Tennis Center indoor facility, the schedule for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament has been altered, moving the UT Arlington women's tennis team's semifinal match to Saturday morning.
Â
The 4th-seeded UTA men are still scheduled to begin their SBC Tournament with a quarterfinal match against 5th-seeded Louisiana at 5 p.m. Eastern (4 Central).
Â
The 4th-seeded UTA women's semifinal match was originally scheduled to be contested outdoors against 8th-seeded Georgia Southern at 10 a.m. Eastern (9 Central) on Friday, but last night that match – along with the other women's semi – was moved indoors and up one hour to 9 a.m. Eastern to accommodate the length of matches with only six covered courts.
Â
However, roof leaks delayed play on Friday morning, and at around 10 a.m. local time a decision was made to postpone both semis until Saturday at 10 a.m. Eastern in order to hopefully prepare the indoor courts for the men's tournament – which has not yet begun – later on Friday.
Â
Quarterfinal action in the men's bracket is scheduled to begin, likely indoors, at 1 p.m. with a pair of matches. If the weather clears, and the outdoor courts are playable, there is a chance the Maverick men will hold their quarterfinal match outside later in the day; otherwise, it will likely be contested indoors.
Â
The women's final has now been moved to Sunday morning, with the men's still scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
