UTA NOTES
• The Mavericks picked up the 1,400th win in program history on Saturday, March 30, defeating South Alabama 9-7 at Clay Gould Ballpark.
• The Mavs are 28-13 overall and have won nine in a row, including a pair of wins over ranked opponents (No. 17 Baylor and No. 19 TCU).
Connor Aube (.357 batting avg.) and Zac Cook (.306 batting avg.) lead the Mavs at the dish.
• 114 of UTA's 380 hits are extra base hits.
• UTA is currently tied-fourth in the Sun Belt in batting average, hitting a combined .274 as a team.
Andrew Gross leads the Sun Belt and the nation in saves (16).
Andrew Gross is closing in on Sun Belt single-season records for saves. Gross became UTA's leader in single-season saves with his save in UTA's 6-3 win over No. 19 TCU on April 16. The SBC record for saves in a season is 18 (Hugh Adams - FAU, 2013).

UP NEXT
Following the mid-week matchup at No. 6 Texas A&M, the No. 20 Mavs head to Boone, N.C. for a three-game SBC series at Appalachian State.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | TEXAS A&M
• The Aggies rank in the top 20 in the nation in numerous pitching categories, including strikeouts per nine innings (2nd - 11.0), K-to-BB ratio (2nd - 3.66), WHIP (6th - 1.14), ERA (7th - 2.91), shutouts (9th - 5), walks allowed per nine innings (12th - 3.01) and hits allowed per nine innings (12th - 7.27).

• The Texas A&M pitching staff is on pace to set a school record for strikeouts in 2019. With 458 strikeouts through 42 games, the Maroon & White are on pace to hang 610 Ks through the 56-game regular-season schedule. The school record for strikeouts in a season is 612 set by the 2010 squad, the only season the Aggies have ever reached the 600-K mark. With a sufficient run at the SEC Tournament and NCAA Championship, the Aggies could flirt with becoming just the second SEC team to post 700 strikeouts in a season, potentially joining Vanderbilt's 2015 squad that recorded 703 strikeouts.

• The Aggies own the only pitching staff in the nation to not yield double-digits in the run column in a game in 2019. The last time the Aggies gave up 10 or more runs in a game was the 2018 regular-season finale against South Carolina when the Maroon & White dropped a 10-1 decision.

LAST TIME OUT | TEAM EFFORT SECURES MAVS SERIES SWEEP
UTA secured a series sweep and its ninth consecutive win with a 9-5 win over Louisiana on Saturday afternoon at Clay Gould Ballpark.

David Moffat (4-2) almost went the distance for the Mavs (28-13, 14-4 SBC), going eight innings in the win. He struck out two batters and only gave up four hits. The Ragin' Cajuns (20-23, 8-10) only scored in one of Moffat's innings.

Will Olson (3-for-4) started the second inning with his third home run of the season for the first run of the game.

After a single to open the top of the fourth, Todd Lott doubled to left center to drive in the Ragin' Cajuns' first run and tie the game at one.

After a few quiet innings at the plate for the Mavs, Anthony Dominguez got things rolling again with a hit to the gap in right center field that brought Boone Montgomery home. In the next at-bat, Dominguez scored on an Andrew Miller single to give UTA a 3-1 lead.

Coming out of the stretch, five of the first six UTA batters reached base in the bottom of the seventh inning. After Aaron Funk singled Josh Minjarez home, Phillip Childs scored on a passed ball. Montgomery made it a five-run game on the next at-bat with a single down the left field line.

UTA added what would turn out to be three important insurance runs in the eighth inning. Olson, Funk and Childs all scored in the inning to make it 9-1 Mavs.

The Ragin' Cajuns made UTA work in the ninth, scoring four runs in the top of the frame before falling by  the final score.

NATIONALLY RANKED
The UTA baseball team moved up nine spots to No. 20 in this week's Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I Poll presented by Big League Chew. This marks the second time this season that the Mavs have appeared in a national poll.

The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1959 college baseball season. UCLA took the top spot in the poll for the third straight week, while Stanford took the No. 2 position. Defending NCAA Champs Oregon State, Georgia and Vanderbilt rounded out the top-five.

UTA is among several red-hot teams in the poll. No. 6 ranked U.C. Santa Barbara has won 12 straight, the Mavericks have now won 9 in a row, No. 24 Indiana has won 10 of their last 11, No. 2 Stanford 7 of 8, No. 8 Arkansas 6 straight while No. 3 Oregon St., No. 4 Georgia and No.25 Duke have each won 5 consecutive.

The lone Sun Belt squad to appear in this week's poll, UTA went 4-0 last week, including a huge 6-3 win over then-No. 19 TCU and a three-game sweep of Sun Belt Conference foe Louisiana.

BARK IN THE PARK…ALL SEASON LONG
UT Arlington Department of Athletics officials announced that all 2019 home baseball games at Clay Gould Ballpark and softball games at Allan Saxe Field will be dog-friendly, thanks to a generous partnership with upstart Lone Star Friends of Animals to create 'Casey's Corner.'

Dogs which are leashed, at least six months old and with the proper vaccinations will be permitted at all UTA baseball and softball games throughout the season.

Casey's Corner is a grassy area between the baseball and softball fields, along the 3rd-base line of the baseball stadium. Multiple pet waste stations have been set up, and the space provides fans and dog owners an opportunity to walk and sit with their canine companions while taking in all the Maverick action.
