KANSAS CITY, MO. – UT Arlington's Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Kathy Crowe-Wagner has been elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa), as announced at the organization's 19th-annual National Conference last week at Kansas City Convention Center.
With her election, Crowe-Wagner – who has been at UTA since 2009 – becomes one of just two female Board Members (not including CSCCa Vice President Stacey Torman from UAB), and is the only member of the board from an institution which does not sponsor football.
Led by Executive Director Dr. Chuck Stiggins, CSCCa President Ethan Reeve and Torman, the CSCCa Board of Directors consists of 10 Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches (MSCCs) and three Special Advisers to the Board.
The CSCCa was established in May of 2000 to meet the specific and unique needs of collegiate strength and conditioning coaches around the country. Crowe-Wagner received the prestigious title of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach at the May 2014 MSCC Induction Ceremony.
"I'm beyond excited and honored to represent UTA in this important role," said Crowe-Wagner. "It's been a pleasure working with so many terrific student-athletes and coaches over the years, and I'd like to thank the CSCCa membership for electing me to this position."
Crowe-Wagner is an 18-year veteran in the field who has had a tremendous impact on the profession, as well as on an innumerable number of student-athletes who have had the privilege of training under her supervision. She has served as a member of the CSCCa Certification Commission, which oversees all aspects of the organization's Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification program since 2013 and has been the Certification Commission Chair since 2017.
"We are grateful to have Kathy serving on the CSCCa Board of Directors," said Dr. Stiggins. "She has a wealth of experience and knowledge that is of immense value to this organization and to the Board of Directors. She is a tremendous asset, and we are fortunate to have Kathy as a member of our association. We sincerely appreciate her willingness to serve in this capacity. She is truly a model of an outstanding strength and conditioning professional."
Prior to her time with the Mavericks, Crowe-Wagner spent five years at Wyoming, leaving there as the department's Director of Strength and Conditioning. She also had stints at Ohio State and UTEP following her Magna Cum Laude graduation from Angelo State in 2000 and Master's degree from UTEP a year later.
