LAST TIME OUT | MAVS DROP RUBBER MATCH AT ULM
UTA dropped the final game of the 3-game Sun Belt Conference series at ULM, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon (May 5) at Warhawk Field.

With the victory, ULM (22-25 overall, 10-13 Sun Belt) picked up their second straight Sun Belt Conference series win, while the Mavericks fell to 29-19 overall and 15-8 in league play and dropped the seventh game in their last eight outings.

ULM struck first on Sunday, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning thanks to a UTA error and a sacrifice fly (2-0).

The Warhawks added four more runs in the fourth inning to push their lead to 6-0.

UTA answered with a pair of runs in the fifth inning (6-2), with one crossing the plate on an RBI single by Conner Aube and another on an error.

Another ULM error in the sixth inning allowed Will Olson to score (6-3).

UTA was unable manufacture any offense the rest of the way and dropped the rubber match to ULM, 6-3.

WATCHIN' THE WATCH LISTS
UTA has had a trio of student-athletes named to Watch Lists for Postseason Awards.

UTA senior right-hander Andrew Gross has been named to the Midseason Watch List for the 15th Annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award. The NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award is given annually to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball.

Gross was one of 45 players named to the list. The midseason list includes five players who were on the preseason watch list released in February, including Stanford's Jake Little, who is the only returner among last year's five finalists for the award.

Redshirt senior Will Olson and junior Connor Aube were named to the 2019 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List. The Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award is presented by SR Bats.

The BBCSA, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.  The award is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity. The Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award has had two winners to date, Hunter Hargrove (Texas Tech, drafted by the Oakland A's) and Devlin Granberg (Dallas Baptist, drafted by the Boston Red Sox).

Olson was also selected to the watch list for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award (formerly the Johnny Bench Award).

BARK IN THE PARK…ALL SEASON LONG
UT Arlington Department of Athletics officials announced that all 2019 home baseball games at Clay Gould Ballpark and softball games at Allan Saxe Field will be dog-friendly, thanks to a generous partnership with upstart Lone Star Friends of Animals to create 'Casey's Corner.'

Dogs which are leashed, at least six months old and with the proper vaccinations will be permitted at all UTA baseball and softball games throughout the season.

Casey's Corner is a grassy area between the baseball and softball fields, along the 3rd-base line of the baseball stadium. Multiple pet waste stations have been set up, and the space provides fans and dog owners an opportunity to walk and sit with their canine companions while taking in all the Maverick action.
