ARLINGTON – Charged with helping bolster UT Arlington's athletic development efforts,
Kyle Callender has been named UTA's new Assistant Director for Maverick Club.
Â
In his role, Callender will have a specific focus on donor relations and stewardship, athletic alumni engagement and Maverick Club events.
Â
"I'm really happy to have Kyle joining our staff," said Assistant AD for Maverick Club
Alex Ware. "He has great experience that I believe will help us continue to grow the Maverick Club. We had a deep pool of quality applicants, but Kyle separated himself during the interview process and is an excellent fit for our department."
Callender joins the Mavs from Eastern Illinois University, where he served for two years as the Assistant Director of EIU's Panther Athletic Support Services Staff. Throughout his tenure, the team advisement for nine of their Division-I programs, Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and EPIC Life Skills Program were all under his guidance.
Â
"I am thrilled to join the Maverick family and would like to personally thank
Jim Baker,
Russell Warren, Rose Youngblood,
Alex Ware and all others involved in the interview process," stated Callender. "I look forward to working with a winning culture here at UTA. Under
Jim Baker's leadership, UTA Athletics has taken massive strides toward providing the best possible experience for all of its student-athletes, and has grown some wonderful relationships within the surrounding communities in the process. I am excited to build on this department's hard work and continue to push UTA Athletics in a positive direction."
Â
Callender earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management with a focus in Organizational Behavior in 2016 from EIU. Upon graduation he became a member of the athletic department staff as a Graduate Assistant of Panther Athletic Support Services before assuming his role as the Assistant Director one year later. Callender earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration and Applied Management from EIU in 2019.
Â
A native of Lake Zurich, Ill., Callender was a four-year member and team captain of the EIU men's soccer program. While competing for the Panthers, Callender was also honored with a Team Academic Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and was named to the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
