ARLINGTON – UT Arlington Athletics officials are pleased to extend a cordial invite to all fans and supporters of the Mavericks to attend the newly-revamped Nancy's Night on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from Troy's inside Texas Live!
Beginning at 6 p.m., the elegant fundraiser commences and will feature cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and live and silent auction items all to support UTA Athletics Scholarships. Additionally, musical acts 'Tuff Son' and local Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers tribute band 'Petty Theft' – featuring UTA alumnus and The Ticket personality Mike Rhyner – will perform.
Nancy's Night is named in honor of the late wife of UTA Director of Athletics
Jim Baker and benefits the Nancy Baker Endowed Scholarship among other endowments and programs. The event has raised nearly $300,000 in just more than three years. The department's goal is $500,000 in the next two years to make it the first fully-endowed scholarship in UTA Athletics history.
"I want to thank everyone who has given to Nancy's scholarship fund in the past, as well as UTA's other important endowments," Baker said. "I hope those supporters will join us again alongside many new faces to not only celebrate Nancy but all of UTA Athletics. It will be a great night to be a Maverick, and I am looking forward to seeing everyone on Oct. 23."
