ARLINGTON, Texas – Over the past 29 years, multiple changes have graced the UT Arlington athletic department – new facilities, new programs, new staff. Through all those changes there has been one constant, Lorraine Palmer.
That all ended last Friday as Palmer entered retirement after nearly three decades in the UTA athletic department. Originally from Burns, Oregon, Palmer began working at UT Arlington in 1991 before being named the Senior Administrative Assistant for the athletic administration in 1996.
"I'm going to miss Lorraine, she has been a fixture here at UTA for 29 years," said Director of Athletics
Jim Baker. "She has been my right arm for nine of those and I appreciate all she has done for me. I wish her and Kenny the best in retirement."
Over the years, Palmer has had her hand in a multitude of responsibilities, ranging from being an assistant for the Maverick Club for five years to working in the Sports Information Office. She was awarded for her hard work in 2006-2007, being named the recipient for the University's Outstanding Employee Award and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Faculty/Staff Loyalty Award.
