Box Score ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington volleyball team extended its winning streak of home openers to 11 with a sweep of Incarnate Word (25-11, 25-23, 25-20) on Day 1 of the 2019 Maverick Classic on Friday night inside College Park Center.

With the win, the Mavs improve to 3-1 on the season, while UIW falls to 2-3 on the year.

Brooke Townsend (8 kills) set the tone in the first set, finishing with 5 kills while the Mavericks disposed of the Cardinals with ease, completing the set with zero errors and a .455 hitting percentage.

UTA opened the second set with 6-1 advantage, but Incarnate Word came back to even the score at 6-6. After three ensuing lead changes, UIW took a 15-11 lead. The Mavericks battled their way back behind the stout defense of
Bre Walp (3 blocks, 5 kills) and
Meredith Fisher's constant attacking near the net (10 kills). After
Kylie Jedlicka's (11 kills) service ace increased the Maverick lead to 24-22,
Kylee Kapp used one of her 20 assists on the night to set Fisher for a kill to win the second set, 25-23.

The third set was a back-and-forth battle as there were 12 lead changes and neither team held a lead larger than three points in the frame. Kapp finished the night off with a kill to give UTA the set and the match.

The Mavericks will face Southern University at 1:30 p.m., before concluding the 2019 Maverick Classic in a matchup against UNC Greensboro at 6:30 p.m.
