SUN BELT PLAYER OF THE WEEK...FOR THE 4TH TIME

Marie Benson was honored by the Sun Belt Conference as the league's Player of the Week. The senior from Waco averaged 24.0 points and 8.5 rebounds and led UTA to wins over Louisiana (W, 79-52) and ULM (W, 72-34) last week.
The Sun Belt Conference's leading scorer finished with a career-high 30 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 from the charity stripe in the Lady Mavs' win over Louisiana on Thursday, Jan. 16. She also added seven boards in the win over the Ragin' Cajuns. In UTA's win over ULM on Saturday (Jan. 18), Benson registered her third double-double of the season (30th of career) with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The UTA women's basketball team earned 6 votes in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll that was released on Tuesday, January 21. UTA is one of three Sun Belt Conference squads to appear in the poll, as Coastal Carolina was ranked No. 21 this week and Troy received 8 votes.
Gonzaga held down the top spot in the poll (31 first-place votes; 774 points), while South Dakota took the No. 2 position. Princeton (699 points), FGCU (672 points) and Missouri State (647 points) rounded out the top-five.
