ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington Department of Athletics will host a virtual basketball meet-and-greet next Wednesday, Nov. 18, in advance of the Mavericks and Lady Mavs seasons beginning the following week.
Â
Hosted on Microsoft Teams, the official tipoff event of the season is scheduled to commence at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
Â
Those joining the call will have the opportunity to meet, hear from and ask questions of any member of the men's or women's teams. Head coaches
Shereka Wright and
Chris Ogden will also be on the meet-and-greet to provide insight into their respective programs in what – at that point – will be exactly one week before the unprecedented 2020-21 basketball season will commence for both teams at home on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Â
Additionally, those on the call will have the opportunity to win exclusive giveaways.
Â
Hosted by
Neil Beasley, Maverick fans will also hear from Director of Athletics
Jim Baker regarding basketball-specific updates, and UTA Spirit teams – cheer, dance and Blaze – are all scheduled to be on the call as well to help set an exciting tone for the year.
Â
The Lady Mavs are set to open their season at the College Park Center on Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. against Texas A&M-Commerce on ESPN+, while the men will host Oklahoma State four hours later at 3 p.m. in a nationally-televised game from the CPC on ESPN2.
