@UTAMavsBSB Heads to Dallas for Midweek Game Against Patriots

DALLAS, Texas – The UT Arlington baseball team will hit the road for a short trip to Dallas on Tuesday (Feb. 18) when they take on the Patriots of Dallas Baptist at 6:30 p.m. inside Horner Ballpark.

UTA NOTES
  • The Mavericks swept Texas A&M CC to open the season - marking the first time since 2013 that the Mavs swept their season opener (Swept LA Tech).
  • UTA is tied with LA Tech for the best ERA in the nation following the first weekend of games. The Mavs gave up just one earned run in three games.
  • With six double plays turned on opening weekend, the Mavericks trail only Purdue in doubles plays (7).
  • Cesar Gomez filled the closer role for the Mavericks last weekend, finishing with two saves and not allowing a single hit in either appearance.
  • In his second at-bat of the season, Andrew Miller hit his first career grand slam en route to a six RBI day.

  • DBU has made it to the NCAA Regional in six straight seasons and eight out of the past nine years.
  • The Patriots are coming off a three-game sweep over South Dakota State.  They won in extra innings on Saturday (8-7, 11) but run-ruled the Jackrabbits on Sunday (13-2, 7)
  • Andres Sosa is batting .400 through the first weekend of the season with an OPS of 1.271.  His four RBI are tied for the team lead. Jace Grady is second on the team with a .300 average.
  • The Patriots only had one pitcher last five innings last weekend - Dominic Hamel. The staff kept the Jackrabbits to hitting just .172 on the series.
  • The Mavs won the last meeting against the Patriots in Dallas, 9-0. They will look to win back-to-back in Dallas for the first time since 2011 and just second time ever.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will stay on the road this weekend when they travel to Nacogdoches for the SFA Tournament where they will take on SFA and Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville.

SEASON TICKETS
Season tickets are available for baseball for $75, while softball is $25.  All seating is general admission. Individual tickets for both baseball and softball will $6, except for the March 24 baseball contest against TCU, which will be $10. Children aged two and under, as well as UTA students with an ID, get in to all games for free.
