ARLINGTON – Mansfield High School senior Cameron Beck has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the UT Arlington men's golf team beginning in 2022-23.
Beck helped lead Mansfield to the 6A State Finals last year, carding rounds of 78 and 74 to finish as the Tigers' second-low team member.
"Cameron has a huge upside," stated UTA head coach
Casey Devoll. "He comes from great family and has a work ethic that is second to none. He has a fundamentally sound golf swing, and nothing seems to bother him on the golf course. We can't wait for him to join the team next year."
In addition to his high school accomplishments, Beck has won three times on the North Texas PGA Junior Tour since the 2019 season. In 18 total events during that timeframe on the tour he has an incredible 13 top-5 finishes, including four of the five he competed in earlier in 2021.
One of those events was the Rangers Junior Open at UTA's home course Texas Rangers Golf Club this past February where he signed for an opening-round 2-under 70 en route to a tie for 5th.
On the NTPGA Junior Tour, Beck has lowered his scoring average every year since 2019. In his five events in 2021, Beck held a scoring average of 74 with a low round of 68. He also posted a round of 68 during the 2020 season in which he competed in seven tournaments and posted a 74.85 average score. His 2019 scoring average was a 79.50.
