ARLINGTON, Texas – Following a 350-day hiatus, the UT Arlington baseball team will be hitting the diamond for the first time in 2021. The Mavericks will play two games at Globe Life Field, taking on Tarleton State (Tuesday – 4:00 pm) and No. 22 Oklahoma (Wednesday – 7:30 pm).

UTA NOTES
- The Mavericks return 90 percent of their innings pitched and 95 percent of their strikeouts from a season ago.
- UTA is returning seven of their eight fielders losing only Zac Cook at second base.
- Senior RP Wyatt Divis has been named Preseason All-Sun Belt as a relief pitcher. Last season he didn't allow a run in 16 innings pitched - one of nine qualifying pitchers in NCAA with a 0.00 ERA.
- For a second straight year, Senior Connor Aube has been named to the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List. The award is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity.
- UTA's schedule features 9 games against Power Five Teams. The Mavs will play eight games against Big 12 foes (TCU, Oklahoma, Baylor, Kansas) and finish the non-conference slate against SEC opponent Texas A&M.
- Due to COVID, the Mavericks have three players who are 24 years old and in their 6th year at UTA. Josh Minjarez (SS), Dylan Paul (1B) and Logan Austin (RHP) all enter their 6th year in Arlington.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | TARLETON STATE
- This is the first season for the Texans at the NCAA Division I. They officially joined the WAC last July after spending the past 26 years at the NCAA Division II level.
- The Texans are currently 1-2 on the season with all three games coming against Abilene Christian. They are coming of a 10-4 win over the Wildcats on Sunday.
- Senior outfielder Wade Raburn is off to a hot start, batting .571 with five RBI through just three games.
- Tarleton's win came from relief pitcher Zach Poe. He has made two appearances and has not allowed a run in two innings pitched.
- Bryce Hackett, Zach Gagnon and Alex Pinedo were the weekend starters for the Texans for their first Division I games.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | OKLAHOMA
- UTA ended their season in 2021 with a 3-0 loss to Oklahoma at Allan Saxe Field.
- The Sooners returned 23 players and welcomed 19 newcomers for the 2021 season.
- Senior right-hander Jason Ruffcorn was named a first team Preseason All-American by D1Baseball and the NCBWA.
- Redshirt freshman third infielder Peyton Graham was recognized as a third-team preseason All-American by D1Baseball, and redshirt junior outfielder Tanner Tredaway was honored as a third-team preseason All-American by the NCBWA.
- As of Monday, Oklahoma is 0-1 but still has two games to play before facing the Mavs (Omaha – Monday; SFA – Tuesday).
ON DECK
The Mavericks will host their home opener this weekend (Feb. 26 – 28) against Stephen F. Austin at Clay Gould Ballpark.
