STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The UT Arlington volleyball team (12-8) will travel to Tarleton State this weekend to take on the Texans for a two-match series. The two teams will play one match on Friday (6:00 p.m.) and one on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) inside the Wisdom Volleyball Gym.

UTA NOTES
- This season, the Mavericks rank 2
nd in digs per set in the SBC (18.44/set), while also ranking 5
th in the conference in assists (11.82/set), kills (12.79) and hitting percentage (.190).

Brooke Townsend leads the team in kills (212) and kills per set (2.94) kills per set, which ranks 9
th in the Sun Belt. Townsends 212 kills ranks 12th nationally.
- Defensive Player of the YearÂ
Alli Wells leads the nation in total digs (478) and is ranked 6th in digs per set (6.13). Both of those numbers put her at the top of the Sun Belt rankings.

Brianna Ford is coming off back-to-back matches with a double-double. Last weekend she finished with a total of 23 kills and 26 digs. On the season, Ford has nine double-doubles.
- The Mavericks will be without two-sport athleteÂ
Michaela Wright this spring as she finishes her season with the women's basketball team. Wright currently leads the team and has the 13
th most blocks in the nation (62).

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | TARLETON STATE
- Tarleton is 1-5 on the season, with all matches coming in the spring. The Texans are coming off a 3-1 loss to California Baptist on Tuesday.
- Amber Strange leads Tarleton with 70 kills (3.33 k/s) and has an attack percentage of .142.
- Ana Costas is the defensive specialist for the Texans, leading the team with 91 digs.
- This is the first season in NCAA Division I for the Texans. A season ago, they went 22-12 and made an NCAA Regional appearance at the NCAA Division II level.
- This will be the sixth time the Mavericks and Texans have faced off, but the first time since 1976. UTA owns a 4-0-1 record against Tarleton. The only match in Stephenville resulted in a tie in 1973.
2021 SPRING SCHEDULE
UTA is scheduled to play 7 non-conference matches this spring beginning Jan. 29 and ending March 6. Six of the seven will be on the road, with the home match coming March 5
th against Big 12 and DFW foe TCU.
