ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team will play their second of five straight home matches on Wednesday (March 10) when they host Southeastern Oklahoma State at 10 am at the UTA Tennis Center.
Â
The Mavericks are 1-5 on the season and have dropped four straight matches, but three of those loses have come at the hands of ranked opponents (#2 Baylor, #35 Texas Tech, #46 SMU). Due to weather and COVID scheduling conflicts, the Mavericks have had to postpone or cancel a handful of matches over the past month. They are looking to win their first match since they defeated Cameron on Feb. 6.
Â
Miguel Cabrera and freshman Nick Beamish both enter the match on winning streaks in singles play. Cabrera is the lone Mav to have a record above .500 in dual matches, leading the squad with a 2-1 record.
Â
In doubles play, Alejandro Hayen and Alan Sau Franco lead the Mavs with a 2-2 record in the No. 1 singles position.
Â
Angel Diaz is looking for his first win of the season, but is coming off a match against Texas Tech's Parker Wynn (#37) in which he was leading 2-6, 6-2, 3-0 when the match was called. He will look to use that momentum to pick up his first win on Wednesday.
