Women's Golf Concludes Regular Season With Top-5 Finish

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - UT Arlington's Heidrun Hlynsdottir led the Mavericks to their best finish this season of 4th place in Tuesday's final round at the ORU Spring Invitational.

Hlynsdottir was just shy of tying her best outing this season of a T6 finish as the junior paced the Maverick lineup with a 7th place finish. The junior tabbed rounds of 75-71-75 which aided to the team's 54-hole total of 915 – tied for the 12-best in UTA program history. Hlynsdottir's other top-10 performance came from the Little Rock Golf Classic back in October of 2021 where she tied for 6th.

Madigan Murray followed Hlynsdottir with a top-20 performance as she tied for 17th across the 62-player field. This week's outing marked the graduate student's fourth top-20 finish this year with the others coming from Sam Houston's Bearkat Invitational (T17), Arkansas State's Lady Red Wolves Classic (T17), South Alabama's Tchefuncta Invitational (T9) and HBU's Husky Invitational (T18).

INSIDE THE SCORES
Murray
  • Murray began her day on the front side – hole 6 – as she played first eight holes in 2-over with two birdies coming on 6 and 10. Unfortunately, four bogeys derailed her momentum that led the graduate student to cap a final-round 78.
Hlyndsottir
  • Hlynsdottir opened on the 5th hole where she played in just +1 over the first 16 holes. The junior produced an even 36 on the back side – along with fellow teammate Connor Howard – that placed her in a good spot heading into her final two holes. Back-to-back bogeys on 3 and 4 put her card 3-over as she completed the round of 75.
Garber
  • Garber began her day on hole 7 as her final-78 featured nothing higher than a bogey, The graduate student carded five bogeys and 13 pars throughout her round as she was the lone Mav who did not roll a single birdie.
Howard
  • Howard opened her round on with a bogey on 8 as she played in even through the first nine. A trio of triples that came on 17, 2 and 5 were costly as they derailed the senior's momentum. Howard went on to cap the round of 78 with birdies coming on 10, 14 and 18.
Tan
  • Tan tabbed an 81 in her final round as her card consisted of a triple, eight bogeys, eight pars and a birdie – which came on hole 10.
