ARLINGTON - The UT Arlington baseball team (11-22, 4-8 SBC) will look to stop a skid as they host 18th-ranked Texas State (25-19, 9-3 SBC) at Clay Gould Ballpark beginning this Thursday (April 14).
UTA NOTES
- Friday night starter Tanner King has the third highest strikeout-to-walk ration in the Sun Belt Conference, striking out 5.25 batters for every one walk. His 5.25:1 ratio is also 68th best in the NCAA.
- The Mavericks are now 9-1 on the season when they are leading after six innings. However, when trailing, that record flips to 1-19 on the year.
- In the few chances they've had this season, left handed starters have not fared well against the Mavericks lineup this season. When UTA faces a left-handed starter, the Mavericks are 3-0 on the season.
- UTA has been hit by pitches more times than any other team in the Sun Belt Conference. The 52 times the Mavericks have been hit by a pitch is the 23rd most in the NCAA this season. Last Wednesday against Tarleton, UTA was hit seven times.
- Cason Gregory and Tyler Rice are two of the hardest batters to strikeout in the Sun Belt Conference. Gregory ranks first, striking out once every 11.4 at-bats (39th in NCAA), while Rice is third, striking out once every 10.6 at-bats (63rd in NCAA).

- The Bobcats enter the weekend ranked in four polls, reaching as high as 18th in Baseball American and Collegiate Baseball. They are 19th in D1Baseball and 20th in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
- Texas State has hit 48 home runs on the season - second in the Sun Belt Conference and 31st in the NCAA. John Wuthrich leads the Bobcats with nine dingers.
- The Bobcats have seven batters with 21 or more RBI on the season, led by Dalton Suffield (28) and John Wutchrich (28).
- Tristan Stivors has been the go-to arm for Texas State to close out games this season. He leads the Sun Belt and is 13th in the NCAA with 7 saves on the season.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the last in-conference rivalry series between these two teams as the Mavericks head to the WAC at the end of this season. Texas State hasn't played in Arlington since 2018, having played six straight games in San Marcos.
