NEW ORLEANS – UT Arlington sophomore men's tennis player
Alan Sau Franco has been named Sun Belt Conference First Team Singles All-Conference, announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.
Selected as the 2021 SBC Player to Watch, Sau Franco did not disappoint in his second season. Sau Franco finished the season with a team-best 19-12 overall record. In dual play, he led UTA with 12 wins and was the primary No. 1 player for the Mavericks winning nine matches on court one. He went 3-1 against Sun Belt competition, all coming on Court 1.
He came away with wins on the season against Mason Beiler (Oklahoma), Kenner Taylor (Texas A&M), Emir Sendogan (Rice).
This marks the sixth straight season that UTA has had at least one player land on the SBC First Team Singles team.
Sau Franco and the rest of the Mavericks squad earned the No. 6 seed for the SBC Tournament and will take on No. 3 Louisiana tomorrow (Thursday, April 14) at 1 p.m. in Peachtree City, Georgia. The match will be televised on ESPN+.
