PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The UT Arlington men's tennis team's season came to an end on Friday afternoon, falling to #2 seed South Alabama 4-0 in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. UTA ends its season with a 13-12 record on the season.
The Jaguars got straight to business, claiming a victory on court two with a 6-1 win over
Solano Caffarena and
Alan Sau Franco.
Maks Lukman and
Daichi Akiyoshi followed on court three with a 6-2 loss as South Alabama took a 1-0 lead over UTA.
Needing just three singles wins, the Jags wasted no time.
Maks Lukman was the first to fall, dropping court five in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
Following a hard-fought first set,
Alan Sau Franco dropped set two against fellow First Team All-Sun Belt selection Sebastien Collard 7-6, 6-0.
Just one win shy of advancing to the finals, South Alabama claimed its victory over the Mavericks, using a 6-4, 6-4 win over
Daichi Akiyoshi on court six to complete the 4-0 win over UTA.
