PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - After securing a share of the Sun Belt Conference Regular Season Championship for a second straight year, the UT Arlington women's tennis team (22-2, 9-1 SBC) has earned the No. 3 seed in the SBC Tournament next week in Peachtree City, Georgia following a three-way tie with South Alabama and Georgia State.
UTA, South Alabama and Georgia State share the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Regular-Season Championship and have earned the top-three seeds in the event. After all three-team tiebreaking procedures were exhausted, the top-three seeds were determined in a draw by Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill on Saturday.Â
With the draw, the Mavericks have earned a first round bye and play the winner of Arkansas State and Troy in the Quarterfinals on Friday, April 22 at 1 p.m. The match, and all subsequent matches, will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Mavericks have been nearly unbeatable in singles competition against Sun Belt opponents wit a combined 30-5 record this spring. Ana Paula Jimenez, Sarina Reinertsen and Tara Gorinsek are a combined 54-1 in dual action.
In doubles play, Paula Jimenez and partner Liz Chileno are a combined 12-1 on court two, while Tara Gorinsek and Momoka Horiguchi have added nine wins from court one.Â
