DAYTONA BEACH, FL - UT Arlington's Heidrun Hlynsdottir continues to pace the Mavericks after a strong showing in Monday's second round at the Sun Belt Conference Championship from LPGA International.
 
Hlynsdottir currently resides in 2nd-place – tied with Georgia Southern's Mia Kness - after she posted a 2nd-round 74. The junior is just +1 for the tournament and just three shots shy of 1st-place after tabbing an opening-round 71 (-1).
 
UTA sits in 7th after a 605 36-hole team total – now 7th in program history –just one shot away from 5th as Georgia State and South Alabama are tied for 5th-place overall +29 for the tournament

INSIDE THE SCORES
Hlynsdottir

• Hlynsdottir posted a flawless opening nine as she produced an even 36 on the front side with her first birdie of the round coming on 2. She opened the back side with a bogey on 10 but would be able to get her card back to even courtesy of a birdie on 13 – her second birdie of the round. However, back-to-back bogeys on 15 and 16 set her back to play the final holes in +2 to cap the round of 74.

Murray

• Murray shot in even through the first six holes (1-6) before three-straight bogeys put her card back +3 before entering the back side. Unfortunately, the graduate student couldn't gain any momentum as four additional bogeys over the seven holes led Murray to a 2nd-round 79. However, she would be able to roll a birdie – which came on 3 – and nine pars.

Garber

• Garber struggled throughout her second round as she tabbed an 85. The graduate student could not find any momentum as she was +7 before entering the back nine. Unfortunately, nothing changed across the closing nine as she was able to record six total pars over her round.

Howard

• Howard matched her 1st-round 76 from yesterday as the senior has a rough start playing in +5 over the first eight holes due to a triple on 5. However, she was able to settle in nicely as she got her card back to +4 courtesy of birdie on 9. Howard maintained that same momentum as her back nine consisted of one bogey, seven pars and a birdie on 17 – her second birdie of the round.

Tan

• Tan posted a 2nd-round 79 in which her card featured a triple, seven bogeys, eight pars and two birdies – tied with Howard for most of the Mavs. The senior was just one shot shy of matching her 1st-round 78 in Sunday's opening round.

THIS AND THAT

• Murray is the only player across the 54-golfer field to have an eagle to her name as it came from Sunday's opening round.
• Hlynsdottir is tied with the 2nd-most birdies (6) across the tournament as she is three shots from leader, Sara Sarrion, of Coastal Carolina.
• Junior Hlynsdottir is currently tied for 1st-place in par-4 scoring average with a 3.95 (-1).

The Mavericks will wrap up Sun Belt Conference Championship action with the final round on Tuesday, Apr. 19 from LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL.
