
Men's Tennis Earns No. 6 Seed in SBC Tournament

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The UT Arlington men's tennis team has earned the No. 6 seed in next week's Sun Belt Conference Tournament held at the Peach Tree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Georgia. The tournament is set to take place between Thursday, April 14 and Sunday, April 17.

The Mavericks, who sit at 12-11 overall and 1-5 in SBC play, draw the No. 3 seed Louisiana. UTA will take on the Ragin' Cajuns in the quarterfinals on Thursday (April 14) at 2 p.m. The match, and all subsequent matches, will be streamed on ESPN+.

UTA will look to lean on Alan Sau Franco to help lead them to the semifinals, as the 2021 SBC Player to Watch leads the Mavericks with a 19-12 record on the season, including a 3-1 record against Sun Belt opponents on line one in singles play.

Miguel Cabrera (16), Maks Lukman (13), Solano Caffarena (11), Ricardo Alban (11) and Daichi Akiyoshi (11) all join Sau Franco with double-digit wins on the season.

In doubles action Anton Shepp and Cabrera will look to give the Mavericks an early advantage as the squad's top tandem, hoisting an 8-6 record on the year.
