STATESBORO, Ga. - The UT Arlington baseball team will try to hold it's position in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament race this weekend as the Mavericks travel to Statesboro, Georgia to take on Georgia Southern.

UTA NOTES
- The Mavericks have been able to hold on to leads when taking them late into games. UTA is 12-1 on the season when leading after 7 innings.
- Over the past 19 games, senior Boone Montgomery has risen his batting average by over 150 points. Since April 6 at Tarleton, Montgomery has slashed .361/..410/.417 and has had seven multi-hit performances. He has reached base in 15 of those games.
- Junior RHP Cade Winquest was named SBC Pitcher of the Week this week - the first of his career. Winquest threw 8 shutout innings over App State, allowing just two hits, one walk and striking out five batters along the way to picking up the win.
- Senior David Moffat has been stellar in Sun Belt Conference play this year. In 38.1 innings of relief pitching the righty holds a team-low 1.41 ERA. He has struck out 31 batters and walked just eight. His ERA is the lowest in the Sun Belt in conference-only games, while his eight walks is the third least.
- The UTA pitching staff has the second least amount of walks in Sun Belt Conference games this season. As a whole, the Mavericks have walked just 77 batters. The only team with less walks is Coastal Carolina (76).
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | GEORGIA SOUTHERN
- Georgia Southern enters the weekend with the highest RPI of any Sun Belt school at 6 and are coming off a 21-7 win over Mercer.
- The Eagles don't make many mistakes in the field as they lead the SBC and are 9th in the NCAA with a .982 fielding percentage.
- Look for Jay Thompson out of the bullpen throughout the weekend. His 32 appearances on the mound are the 2nd most in the NCAA.
- Southern enjoys the small ball, using sacrifice bunts 53 times this season - the 2nd most in the NCAA.
SERIES HISTORY
Georgia Southern and UTA have met 20 previous times with the Eagles owning a 14-6 advantage over the Mavericks, dating back to 2015. Southern took two out of three last season in Statesboro. This will be the final Sun Belt series the Mavericks will play as they join the WAC beginning July 1.
TOURNAMENT IMPLICATIONS
The Mavericks enter the weekend as the No. 10 seed in the SBC Tournament with a half game lead over ULM and 1.5 game lead over Arkansas State. Below are scenarios for the Mavericks to make the tournament

Sweep Georgia Southern AND App State is swept by Troy
No. 10 Seed
Win one game against Georgia Southern AND Arkansas State wins series over ULM 2-1
OR
Win two games against Georgia Southern AND ULM does not sweep Arkansas State
