ARLINGTON – Midway through the summer, it's time to take a look at how the season is going for former Mavericks now playing professional baseball.
 
OF Zac Cook – New Hampshire Fisher Cats | AA | Toronto Blue Jays
After spending his first season in Single A ball, Cook was moved up to Double A this season, getting assigned to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on April 6. He has played in 50 games for New Hampshire this season, slashing .214/.361/.416. He has knocked in 20 runs and hit 8 home runs.
 
RHP Cesar Gomez – Asheville Tourists | High-A | Houston Astros
Gomez was assigned to the Ashville Tourists on August 31. He has appeared in 13 games in 2022, making seven starts. He owns a 3-4 record and has struck out 45 batters. Following an impressive week to end the month of May, Gomez was named the South Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Week after tossing six scoreless innings, allowed only two hits, did not walk a batter, and struck out a career-high nine batters.
 
RHP Andrew Gross – Montgomery Biscuits | AA | Tampa Bay Rays
Gross was promoted to Double A this season and assigned to the Montgomery Biscuits on April 12. He has made 16 appearances in relief effort and made one start.  He holds a 1-1 record this season and a 3.51 ERA with the Biscuits.
 
LHP Jakob Hernandez – Lehigh Valley IronPigs | AAA | Philadelphia Phillies
After being promoted to Triple A ball a season ago, Hernandez has become a steady arm out of the bullpen for the IronPigs. He has made 23 appearances, striking out 35 batters across 24.0 innings. He currently holds a 3.75 ERA. Hernandez was invited to Spring Training with the Phillies this season
 
RHP Joel Kuhnel – Cincinnati Reds | MLB
Kuhnel was called back up The Show on May 23.  The right-handed pitcher has appeared in 17 games for the Reds and has one save to his credit. He has tossed 20.1 innings in relief and struck out 22 batters. Overall, he has made 31 appearances during his MLB career.
 
C Andrew Miller – ACL Mariners | Rookie | Seattle Mariners
Miller signed as a free agent with the ACL Mariners on May 13. He has played in eight games for the Mariners.  Miller slashed .333/.364/.619 across 21 at-bats.  He hit one home runs, one triple, one double and scored four runs.
 
RHP Carlos Tavera – Aberdeen IronBirds | High-A | Baltimore Orioles
Tavera has made waves with the IronBirds this season. During the month of May, Tavera was named the MiLB Pitcher of the Month after posting a 0.49 ERA across 18.1 innings. He allowed just one run, six hits and struck out 26 batters. On the season, Tavera holds a 4.13 ERA in 12 games started. He has struck out 67 batters in 48.0 innings and is allowing batters to hit at a .203 clip.
 
RHP Zach Thompson – Pittsburgh Pirates | MLB
After spending last season with the Marlins, Thompson was traded to the Pirates on November 29. He has made 12 starts this season for the Pirates an holds a 3-5 record.  He holds a 4.47 ERA across 54.1 innings and has struck out 41 batters.
 
LHP Kody Bullard – Cleburne Railroaders | American Association
Bullard is in his second season with the Railroaders. He has a 3-4 record on the season and holds a 5.60 ERA in nine appearances, including eight starts.  The lefty has struck out 41 batters across 35.1 innings.
 
RHP Michael Wong - Cleburne Railroaders | American Association
Wong, who graduated from UTA this spring, signed with Railroaders on June 28 and immediately made an appearance. He tossed one inning against Kansas City, putting them down in order.
