ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington women's golf team has added Henderson State transfer
Hannah Choi, head coach
Catherine Matranga announced on Thursday.
A native of Austin, Choi is coming off a sophomore season with the Reddies in which she played 11 tournaments and held a 75.30 stroke average across 27 rounds. That scoring average would have been the best on the UTA roster this past season.
Choi registered five top-10 finishes for Henderson State this past season where the junior helped the Reddies capture the 2022 GAC (Great American Conference) Championship. There, Choi placed 4th across the 45-player field.
"We are very excited to add Hannah to our team this year," said Matranga. "She brings a lot of experience and knows what it takes to win. We can't wait to have her on campus."
As a redshirt freshman in 2020-21, Choi competed in 19 rounds where she recorded a 77.58 average – third best on the team. She was named co-champion of Arkansas-Fort Smith's Hardscrabble Invitational in April of 2021 after signing for a 76, 73 and 71 which proved to be her best finish of the season. That marked Choi's first tournament win in her career as a Reddie.
Choi made eight appearances in the Reddies' lineup throughout her true freshman campaign before the season was cut short in mid-March due to COVID-19. She posted a scoring average of 78.55 over 20 rounds where she tabbed a 2nd place finish that led the squad to a 1st place overall finish.
Over her time spent at Henderson State, Choi held a scoring average of 77.14 across 66 rounds.
