LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The UT Arlington women's golf team wrapped up play at the Golf Iconic Classic on Wednesday from the New Mexico State Golf Course which saw the Mavericks leap up two spots in the team standings behind solid play across the lineup.
The Mavs knocked down the eighth most birdies as a team for the tournament, connecting on 39 of them throughout the classic. UTA finished 13th overall after rounds of 295-294-294.
Tarini Bhoga finished tied for 22nd overall after finishing the final round two over par, jumping up three spots from her round two finish. Bhoga finished the classic with rounds of 72-71-74.
Kamri Gabel jumped up for spots in the individual standings, finishing tied for 33rd after finishing the day two over par. Gabel knocked down the lone eagle for the Mavs on a par four on hole three. She finished the tournament with rounds of 71-74-74.
Nitisha Manikandesh made the largest jump in the individual standings, moving up a staggering 22 spots to finish tied for 60th overall. She finished the final round an even par after knocking down three birdies, 13 pars, one bogey and one double bogey. She finished the tournament with rounds of 77-75-72.
Salome Arango Marin jumped up 10 spots in the individual standings to finish tied for 70th overall, finishing the final round four over par. She turned in rounds of 77-74-76 for the tournament.
Nirjara Gulhane leaped up seven spots in the individual standings after turning in a final round of two over par. She ended her day with five birdies to go along with six pars and seven bogeys. Gulhane finished the tournament with rounds of 75-85-74.
The Mavs will have a quick turnaround as their next fall tournament begins on Sunday, Oct. 19, and wraps up on Tuesday, Oct. 21, when they travel to Arkansas for the Diamante Intercollegiate hosted by the Trojans of Little Rock.
