Cross Country Announces 2022 Schedule

ARLINGTON – With the season right around the corner, the UT Arlington men's and women's cross country teams announced the 2022 schedule on Thursday afternoon.

UTA is slated to race in four this fall in advance of the Western Athletic Conference Championships.

The Mavericks will open the season at home for their UTA Season Opener on Saturday, Sept. 10. For the second straight season, the Mavs will return to Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie for their home meet.

UTA will then head to Nacogdoches for their first look at their new conference as they compete at the WAC Preview hosted by Stephen F. Austin. The event will be held on Sept. 17 and will be the same course as the WAC Championships in October in Pecan Acres Park.

The Mavericks gear up for tough competition in their next two events, heading to Fayetteville on Sept. 30 for the annual Chile Pepper Festival among some of the best teams in the nation. UTA concludes the regular season in Bryan-College Station on Oct. 15 at the Arturo Barrios Invitational.

"This schedule will allow us a great opportunity to grow so that we are peaking for the conference championships and beyond," said 33-time Conference Coach of the Year John Sauerhage. "We are very excited about the upcoming season and are looking forward to our first practice in August."

That WAC Championship date is set for Saturday, Oct. 29 at Pecan Acres Park in Nacogdoches. In their only other appearance in the WAC Cross Country Championships, the UTA men took home the crown in the 2013 season.

The NCAA South Central Regional in Bryan-College Station is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11, hosted by Texas A&M. The NCAA Championships are slated for Saturday, Nov. 19, hosted by Oklahoma State in Stillwater.
