ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-- The UT Arlington men's tennis team wrapped up their weekend on the road with a 5-2 loss to Gonzaga on Saturday.
 
In doubles action, the Zags got the early 1-0 lead. Anton Shepp and Santiago Giamichelle lost 6-3 on Court 1. On Court 2, Solano Caffarena and Lachlan Robertson also fell with a 6-2 loss to Leon Roider and Arthus de la Bassetiere.
 
The Mavericks earned two singles wins on Courts 1 and 5 to put them on the scoreboard.
 
Shepp defeated Sasha Trkulja at the No. 1 spot in straight sets 7-6 (4), 6-3 in his first win of the spring season. Joan Torres Espinosa also picked up his first win at No. 5, beating Tom Hann 6-4, 7-5.
 
Giamichelle lost a tough three-set match on Court 3 to make his record 1-1 for the spring. After winning the first set 6-4, he dropped the next two sets 6-3, 6-4.
 
Caffarena fell to de la Bassetiere on Court 2 in two sets. Following a close loss in the first set, 7-6 (2), he lost the second 6-2.
 
The Zags were able to gain two more wins to finish the match on Courts 4 and 6. Dante Teramo lost 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot, followed by Roberston with a 6-4, 6-4 loss at No. 6.
 
The Mavericks will be back in action at home on Jan. 29 for a doubleheader against Prairie View A&M and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
