ARLINGTON – As part of UT Arlington's on-going Name, Image & Likeness efforts for student-athletes, Mavericks' Director of NIL Holland Sutton on Tuesday announced the department's first-ever 'Life Beyond the Game: Internship & NIL Symposium' on Friday, Nov. 10.
Â
Aimed at providing Maverick student-athletes with internship and NIL opportunities to help grow their brands and prepare them for life outside of their sport, the event will begin at 7:30 p.m. from the Park View Terrace inside the College Park Center following the women's basketball team's Homecoming game versus Lamar at 5 p.m.
Â
The symposium will allow for local business leaders to connect with student-athletes from UTA's men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball programs. Another symposium including other sports will be held at a later date.
Â
"This a big step in the right direction for UTA's NIL efforts, and one that I believe our student-athletes and DFW businesses will really enjoy," said Sutton.
Â
Those interested in attending the free event are asked to please RSVP through this link. For any questions, please contact Holland Sutton at holland.sutton@uta.edu or 650-619-6851.
Â
"This is a terrific platform for local businesses to connect with our student-athletes and invest in their futures," stated UTA Director of Athletics Jon Fagg. I encourage as many companies to partake as possible, especially those businesses owned by UTA alumni as a way to give back and also help grow the next generation of leaders in DFW."
Â
"The Life Beyond the Game Symposium will give our student-athletes an opportunity to network with companies and business leaders from around DFW," added Associate AD for Development Ira Childress. "We want to continue to provide a platform which fosters development for our student-athletes to excel in and out of their competitions."
