COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UT Arlington cross country teams wrapped up their regular season schedule on Friday morning at the Arturo Barrios Invitational at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course hosted by Texas A&M.
The women's team placed 19th in the team standings while the men's team claimed 25th.
Matro Jepkemboi placed fifth overall in the women's 6k with her time of 19:49.20. This is Jepkemboi's fourth Top-10 finish on the season, placing in the Top-10 in each race she's competed in to start her college career.
"Matro's time was incredible," said Head Coach John Sauerhage. "It's amazing for her to come in here in her first collegiate season and to be posting the times she has been. I'm proud of both teams and how they always compete."
Winnie Kipsang came in second for the Mavericks and 67th overall with a time of 20:53.80.
Mercy Biwott placed 118th with a time of 21:23.00 while
Lauren Walls-Portillo finished with a mark of 21:41.60, placing 155th.
Isabel Borrego rounded out the top five finishers for the Mavs, clocking in at 22:02.00 and finishing 194th overall.
On the men's side,
Patrick Estes led UTA with a 52nd-place finish with a time of 24:15.00.
Jackson Cichon placed 119th with a mark of 24:47.60. Coming in at 126th with a time of 24:50.50 was
Brian Guevara while
Rogelio Aguirre finished 126th with a time of 25:03.40. Andres Gurrola rounded out the top five finishers for the Mavs, coming in 210nd with a time of 25:29.10.
NEXT UP
The Mavs will be off the next week as they prepare for the WAC Cross Country Championships that takes place in two weeks, October 27, in Abilene, Texas.
