ARLINGTON, Texas – For the second time this season, freshman
Matro Jepkemboi is named the WAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Saturday, October 14.
The first year out of Eldoret, Kenya continues to impress in her first collegiate season, picking up her second weekly award following an outstanding performance in the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M. Jepkemboi posted a time of 19:49.20 to record a fifth-place finish in the 6k.
Jepkemboi has now finished in the top 10 in all four meets she's competed in this season.
The Mavericks and Jepkemboi return to action next Friday, October 27, as they travel to Abilene to compete in the WAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Abilene Christian.
