ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (1-6, 0-1 WAC) is back in the friendly confines of the College Park Center where it hosts preseason favorite Grand Canyon (5-2, 1-0 WAC) in the Lady Mavs WAC home opener.

HOME SWEET HOME
Sporting a 96-64 overall record at the College Park Center, the Lady Mavs seem to be at their best when playing in front of the home crowd at the CPC.

GOOD AS ADVERTISED
Avery Brittingham is living up to the expectations as the First-Team All WAC performer from a season ago at Stephen F. Austin, is showing why Coach Wright went after her in the transfer portal. She has done a little bit of everything for the Lady Mavs, leading UTA in several statistical categories such as rebounds per game (8.1), assists (21), steals (13), three-point percentage (.417) and is second points per game (12.86).Â

Through seven games this season, Brittingham has posted a double-double in three of those contests. This has her ranked 24th in the country and tied for 1st in the conference with Chloe Webb of California Baptist.

Brittingham has also been a menace on the boards in the infant stages of the season, averaging 8.1 rebounds per contest to lead the Lady Mavs which also has her ranked 99th in the NCAA and 4th in the WAC. In the seven games so far this season, Brittingham has pulled down 57 rebounds, 2nd in the conference and 104th in the country. She seems to be at her best on the defensive end where she has pulled down 46 defensive rebounds to lead the Lady Mavs. Her 11 offensive rebounds also lead UTA.

FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE
The Lady Mavs are one of the best teams in the country when it comes to getting to the free throw line, averaging 20.71 free throw attempts per game. This is the 67th best mark in the country and 3rd best in the WAC behind California Baptist (27.17 - 4th in NCAA) and SFA (24.17 - 14th in NCAA).

The 14.43 free throws made per game has the Lady Mavs 4th in the WAC and 68th in the NCAA while their 69.7-percent from the charity stripe is 180th best in the nation and 4th best in the conference.

MAKING IT RAIN
The Lady Mavs average 19.1 three-point attempts per game, 191st in the NCAA and the 7th best mark in the WAC. Their 32.1 percentage from beyond the arc is the 4th best three-point percentage in the conference and 132nd in the country.

The tandem of
Taliyah Clark and
Hannah Humphrey lead the charge for the Lady Mavs, with the pair hitting 12 three-pointers so far this season to pace UTA. Brittingham's 41.67 shooting percentage from deep leads the Lady Mavs.

The Lady Mavs drained 11 three-pointers in their first contest of the 2023-24 season. They went 11-22 from beyond the arc for a .500 shooting percentage.

FAR FROM RESERVES
The Lady Mavs sport one of the better benches in the WAC and NCAA, averaging 22.7 points per game from the bench, this has UTA ranked 119th in the country and 4th in the conference. Humphrey leads the charge averaging 9.29 points per game.

Averaging 13.7 assists per game as a team, the Lady Mavs are currently ranked 153rd in the NCAA and 4th in the WAC.

SCOUTING GRAND CANYON
The Wildcats are coming off of a 63-50 win over UTRGV in the WAC opener and are currently riding a three-game win streak and hold a 1-0 record on the road. Junior guard Trinity San Antonio is 30th in the country (first in WAC) in assists per game (5.4) and leads the WAC in total assists with 38. She has had five games with five or more assists as GCU has gone 4-1 in those contests. GCU owns a 37.9 three-point percentage (27th in the nation, first in WAC) and has made seven or more threes in five contests. They has shot over 40-percent from deep three times, with only one game under 30-percent this season. The Lopes have troubled offenses early in the past three games, allowing only six points per first quarter. GCU's offense has averaged scoring 15.3 points in the first quarter of such games.

The Lady Mavs will hit the road once more as they plunge back into non-conference play, traveling to Boulder to take on the 7th-ranked Buffaloes of Colorado on Tuesday, December 5, with tip-off scheduled for a noon central time start.
