ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington baseball team (7-8, 2-1 WAC) travels to Lubbock for a 2 game midweek series against No. 22 Texas Tech (14-3).
Game 1 will be on Tuesday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. and game 2 is slated for Wednesday, March 15, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
UTA NOTES
- The Mavericks are coming off a good week of baseball in which they won 3 of 4 games including a midweek win over then No. 10 TCU and a conference series win over Tarleton, taking 2 of 3 games.
- UTA jumped up 67 spots in the latest NCAA RPI rankings, coming in at 86 this week compared to 153 last week.
- Tyson Pointer looks to continue his hot streak and extend his 15-game hitting streak. Is currently tied for third nationally in doubles per game (0,67). Leads UTA with 21 hits, 10 doubles, 16 runs driven in and a .629 slugging percentage. Is second on the team with a .339 batting average and is tied for the team lead with 1 triple and 2 homeruns.
- Freshman Ryan Black leads the Mavs with a .364 batting average. Has 20 hits in 55 plate appearances, 4 doubles, 2 homeruns and 13 runs driven in. Second on the team with a .545 slugging percentage.
- Matt Cavanagh is hitting .306 on the year with 15 hits in 49 plate appearances while driving in 7 runs.
- Garrison Berkley looks to remain hot, coming off a series in which he went 6 for 13, driving his batting average to .298. Has 17 hits in 57 at-bats with 4 doubles and 1 homerun.
- UTA hadn't grounded into a double play entering the series against Tarleton, where that streak ended with the Mavs grounding into 2 double plays during the weekend.
- Connery Peters has a team high 5 saves on the season, tying him for third in the national rankings.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 29th and 30th meeting between the programs. Texas Tech leads the all-time series 22-6. This is the first meeting since 2017, a game in which the Mavericks upset the No. 4 Red Raiders in Globe Life Park by a final score of 5-1. In Lubbock, the Mavs are 1-15, with the lone victory coming back in 2013, a game the Mavs won by a final score of 13-12. Under current Texas Tech head coach, Tim Tadlock, the Red Raiders are 3-2 against the Mavs.
