Mavs Ready To Return To WAC Play In Seattle

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington baseball team (12-14, 3-3 WAC) returns to Western Athletic Conference play as they travel to the west coast for a series against the Seattle U Redhawks (5-16, 3-6 WAC). 
 
Game one was originally scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start but due to projected weather, game time has been moved up to a 1:00 p.m. start time.

UTA NOTES
  • Hold a 7-8 record on the road in 2023.
  • Come into the game 91st in RPI, third best in the WAC, behind Sam Houston (76) and Grand Canyon (82). 83rd has the Mavs ahead of powerhouses such as 2022 national runner-up Oklahoma (107) and Baylor (199).
  • Connery Peters is tied for third in the NCAA in saves with six and sits alone in second in the WAC.
  • As a team, the Mavericks are 30th in the NCAA in doubles with 56 on the year. Tyson Pointer leads the way with 11, which has him tied for 23rd in the country and third in the WAC.
  • In doubles per game, UTA (2.15) is 63rd in the country and first in the WAC. Pointer (0.48) is tied for 30th nationally and third in the conference.
  • UTA is tied for 61st in the NCAA and fourth in the WAC in hits with 250. Ryan Black and Garrison Berkley lead the charge with 37 which have them tied for 67th in the NCAA and is fifth in the WAC. Amongst freshmen, Black is sixth best.
  • Tied for 77th in the NCAA and second in the WAC in hit-by-pitch with 36.
  • The Mavericks are ranked 83rd in the country and second in the WAC in home runs with 29 on the season. In their last five games, the Mavs have smashed 14 home runs. Ben Lumsden leads the charge for UTA with 6 on the season.
  • The Mavs have yet to be shutout on the season.
 
SEATTLE U NOTES
  • This will be the fourth conference series for the Redhawks.
  • Currently riding a two-game win streak.
  • Hold a 3-4 record at Bannerwood Park.
  • TCU comes into the game carrying a .257 batting average, a 6.78 ERA and a .953 fielding percentage.
  • The Redhawks have hit 17 homeruns with seven different players having at least one for the year.
 
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the third series all-time between the two programs, and the first meeting since 2019. It will be the first matchup between the two sides since UTA rejoined the WAC. In their six meetings, the Mavericks hold a 4-2 over the Redhawks, with all six coming at Bannerwood Park. The Mavs look to continue their success against the Redhawks, winning their last three match ups.
