ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team (16-20, 6-6) will welcome the Wildcats of Abilene Christian to Arlington for a conference series beginning Friday, Apr. 14 followed by a doubleheader Saturday, Apr.15 from Allan Saxe Field.
Heading into this weekend's series with ACU, the Mavericks lead the overall short standing series with the Wildcats, 6-4. So far this season, ACU sits on an overall record of 10-30 and is 4-8 in conference play.

UTA NOTES (16-20) (6-6, WAC)
- UTA suffered a 6-0 midweek loss at #3 Oklahoma State this past Wednesday as the Mavs move on to a 16-20 record.
- The Mavericks picked up a conference series win at Stephen F. Austin (4/9-10) as UTA has now won back-to-back series against two of the top teams in the WAC.
- Sophie Wideman led the Mavs to a 3-2 extra-inning win, clinching the series with the Lumberjacks after belting a solo shot in the top of the eighth.
- Three Mavericks finished with five hits on the series as junior Morgan Westbrook hit .556, coming away with two RBI and a .556 slugging percentage.
- Freshman Marley Neises continues to lead UTA's offense with a .353 batting average. The outfielder has starter in 29 games for the Mavs with 30 hits, 15 RBI and three home runs. Neises also leads the team with a .529 slugging percentage.
- Jessica Adams holds the fourth best ERA in the WAC with a 2.30. The sophomore has appeared in 29 games for the Mavericks and has tossed over 121 innings of work. With seven complete games to her name, Adams has 48 strike outs.
- Junior Gracie Bumpurs has been the other half of head coach Kara Dill's staff as Bumpurs has appeared in 26 games for UTA this season. The righty has over 79 innings, coming away with 28 strike outs.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT – ABILENE CHRISTIAN (10-30) (4-8, WAC)
- Abilene Christian is coming off a tough 15-6 loss to No. 19 Baylor Thursday in Abilene, moving to an overall record of 10-30.
- So far this year, the Wildcats have won one WAC series – a sweeping of Southern Utah a few weeks ago. However, ACU has lost its series to Utah Tech, Utah Valley and most recently, Tarleton. Despite coming away with an 11-1 win against Tarleton, ACU couldn't quite nail down the series.
- Freshman Sammie Shelander leads Abilene Christian with a .324 batting average. The infielder has logged 33 hits, seven doubles, 20 RBI and four RBI.
- Junior Avery Miloch holds the most home runs on the season with 11. The catcher paces the 'Cats with 24 RBI, nine double and a .664 slugging percentage.
- Appearing in 29 games with 22 starts in the circle for ACU, right-handed pitcher Talia Nielsen leads the pitching staff with a 5.25 ERA. So far this season, the junior has over 102 innings of work, 44 strike outs and a 6-10 record.

The Mavs will prepare for a lengthy road trip next week as the squad will hit the road down to Lake Charles, Louisiana for a midweek matchup at McNeese before flying out to New Mexico to face New Mexico State for a three-game WAC series (Apr. 21-22).
