ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington baseball team (13-16, 4-5 WAC) returns to Clay Gould Ballpark for a midweek clash against the Cardinals of Lamar University (17-10, 3-3 SLC) on Tuesday, April 4, with a start time of 6:30 p.m.

UTA NOTES

• Hold a 3-5 record at Clay Gould Ballpark in 2023.
• Come into the game 124th in RPI, dropping 33 spots from 91st the previous ranking period. This is fourth best in the WAC, behind Abilene Christian (69) Grand Canyon (82) and Sam Houston (103). 
• The Mavericks are 11-1 when leading after 8 innings of play with Connery Peters being tied for eighth in the NCAA in saves with six and sits alone in second in the WAC.
• UTA is tied for 54th in the NCAA and third in the WAC in hits with 282. Garrison Berkley leads the charge with 43 which has him tied for 40th in the NCAA and is fourth in the conference. Ryan Black comes in with 42 hits, tying for 56th in the NCAA rankings and sixth in conference play. Among freshmen, Black is eighth best.
• As a team, the Mavericks are tied for 16th in the NCAA and are tops in the WAC in doubles with 65 on the year. Tyson Pointer leads the way with 12, which has him tied for 22nd in the country and third in the conference.
• Tied for 51st in the NCAA and sit alone in first in the WAC in hit-by-pitch with 43. Wilson Galvan leads the way, being hit eight times for second in the conference.
• The Mavericks are ranked 94th in the country and fourth in the WAC in home runs with 32 on the season. Ben Lumsden is at the helm for UTA with 7 on the season.
• Gabriel Starks carries a team-best 2.52 earned run average, tops in the WAC and 64th best in the NCAA.
• The Mavericks have yet to be shutout on the season.

 
LAMAR NOTES

• Come into the game carrying a 17-10 overall record with a 1-4 record on the road.
• Lamar currently is ranked 156 in the most updated RPI rankings, falling four spots (152) from the previous week.
• The Cardinals hold a 3.79 team earned run average, which has them ranked 21st in the NCAA.
• In strikeout-to-walk ratio, Lamar ranks 61st in the nation coming in at 2.32.
• Defensively, the Cardinals are ranked 16th in fielding percentage (.981).
• Ryan Snell leads the Cardinals with 10 home runs and 30 runs batted in on the season to go along with a .314 batting average and 10 doubles in 27 games played.
• In 23 games, Ben MacNaughton carries a .359 batting average to pace the Cardinals offense.

 
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 121st meeting between the two programs, dating all the way back to 1969. The two are former Southland Conference opponents. UTA's overall record versus Lamar stands at 41-79 and the Mavericks hold a 20-33 record in Arlington. The Mavs are 3-7 in their previous 10 contests with the Cardinals.
