ARLINGTON – Fresh off dominating the Western Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament to sweep the league's championships, UT Arlington will learn its NCAA Tournament destination and opening opponent at a public watch party beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 1, from Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux in the Arlington Highlands.
All fans are invited to attend as the gathering will also serve as a celebration for the team and the women's tennis program which won its third-straight conference regular-season title this spring.
The NCAA Selection Show commences at 5:30 p.m., and during the evening Maverick supporters can enjoy Happy Hour deals from Walk-On's – located at 401 E Interstate 20 in Arlington – including $5 select appetizers, $2 and $3 domestic pints and bottles, $3 house single pours and more. A complete listing of the Happy Hour deals is included at the end of this release.
UTA went a perfect 5-0 in WAC play during the regular season and followed it up with a stalwart postseason showing to clinch its first tournament crown since 2016. The top-seeded Mavs blew past UT Rio Grande Valley in the semifinals, 5-0, before essentially duplicating the performance a day later on Saturday in a commanding 4-0 blanking of No. 2 Abilene Christian.
The 1st and 2nd rounds of the NCAA Tournament will take place at campus sites on either May 5-6 or 6-7. For more information about the championship, visit the NCAA website by clicking here.
