ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington baseball team (25-22, 15-9 WAC) travels to Huntsville for their final conference road series against Sam Houston (29-20, 18-6 WAC) beginning on Friday, May 12, and concluding on Sunday, May 14, at Don Sanders Stadium.

UTA NOTES
- UTA carries a 12-14 record on the road, while sporting a 7-5 road record in WAC games.
- Comes off winning a traditional weekend series that all three games were decided by one run, first time since 1991 that has happened.
- The Mavericks have 10 wins on the season when they enter the 7th inning either tied or trailing.
- Garrison Berkley has smacked 18 doubles on the year, tops in the WAC and 40th best in the NCAA while averaging 0.38 doubles per game which has him 66th in the country and 3rd in the conference. Berkley carries a .349 average for the year and is the only Mav to have two four-hit games on the year. He leads the Mavs with 67 hits and a .446 on-base percentage for the season. Berkley has started in all 47 games, the only Mav to do so.
- Wilson Galvan holds a team-high reached base streak which stands at 34 games for the year. During his 34-game reached base streak, Galvan is hitting .346 with eight doubles and three home runs while driving in 28 runs, being hit 12 times and drawing 13 walks. Galvan has been hit 15 times for the year, which has him 39th in the country and 2nd in the WAC.
- Ryan Black leads the Mavs with a .359 batting average and 50 RBIs on the season. Black has smacked 11 doubles and seven home runs while slugging .533 for the year. His six sacrifice flies are tops in the WAC and 20th in the NCAA. Black leads the Mavs with seven three-hit games, 16 two-hit games and eight three-RBI games.
- Tyson Pointer is hitting .298 with 15 doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 44 RBIs while slugging .541 on the year. Pointer has two games where he finished with five or more RBIs, the most on the team.
- Tyler Rice has started at multiple positions for the Mavs and came up big in some key situations. In his 119 at-bats, Rice has been punched out 13 times, which is about a strikeout every 9.2 at-bats, making Rice one of the toughest hitters to strike out in college baseball, 91st in the NCAA and 4th hardest in the WAC.
- Ben Lumsden leads the Mavs with 11 home runs and three triples on the year as well as a team high .552 slugging percentage for the season. Lumsden is third on the team with 36 RBIs on the year. His home run total is seven more than the home run leader from the previous season (4).
- Matt Cavanagh carries a nine-game hitting streak into the series and has reached base safely in his past ten games. Cavanagh is hitting .320 with five doubles and 13 RBIs on the year.
- UTA has yet to be shut out on the season.
UTA IN THE RANKINGS
Out of 295 teams ranked, UTA ranks near the top percentile in a few categories:
- 96th in the updated RPI poll, third highest in the WAC behind Grand Canyon (80) and Sam Houston (86).
- 56th in the NCAA and 3rd in the WAC in doubles with 98 on the year while 61st in the NCAA and 4th in the WAC in doubles per game with 2.09,
- Hitting .293 on the season as a team, which is 76th best in the NCAA and 4th in the WAC. Ranked 59th in the NCAA in hits with 480 for the season which is 4th best in the WAC.
- The pitching staff ranks 60th in the nation and 2nd in the WAC in walks allowed per nine innings at 4.01.
PROGRAM HIGHS
The 50 total home runs hit as a team are the fifth most in program history, trailing the 1993 team who hit 53 for fourth most. The 1998 squad hit the most in the program record books with 72 for the year.
UTA is currently slugging .451 on the year as a team, if the season were to end today, this would be the sixth best team mark in program history and the highest mark since 2014.
SAM HOUSTON NOTES
- The Bearkats hold a 14-10 record at home.
- Sam Houston is hitting .318 on the season as a team, which has them ranked 10th overall in the NCAA and tops in the WAC. Their 556 total hits have them ranked 6th in the nation and 1st in the WAC.
- Their 394 runs are ranked 24th in the NCAA and tops in the WAC. They have swiped 85 bags which are 36th in the country and 1st in the conference.
- Tyler Davis is one of the top hitters in the country, hitting .447 on the year which has him ranked 4th nationally and 1st in the conference. His 85 hits are 2nd in the NCAA and 1st in the WAC.
- Joe Redfield is hitting .435 on the year, which has him ranked 8th nationally and 2nd in the conference. His 84 hits for the year have him ranked 5th in the NCAA and 2nd in the WAC.
- Coltin Atkinson has started 12 games on the mound for the Bearkats, compiling a 7-2 record. His seven wins have him ranked 24th in the NCAA and 2nd in the WAC.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2018. The Bearkats hold the all-time series record over the Mavs, 53-49. In their previous 10 matchups, the Mavs are 7-3.
