Box Score MESA, Ariz. – The UT Arlington baseball team fell to Utah Valley in the WAC Tournament by a final score of 16-0 in 7 innings on Friday night.
With the loss, the Mavericks end their season 29-29 overall record with a WAC semifinals appearance in their first season back since 2013. The shut out is the first time the Mavs have been shut out all season.
Offensively, the Mavs collected six hits as a team.
Tyler Rice finished 1-2 with a walk for the game.

Tyce Armstrong,
Tyson Pointer and
Ryan Black all finished 1-3 to round out the offensive output for UTA.
The Mavs used three pitchers for the game with
Jack Hagan getting the start on the mound, going 1.2 innings and gave up nine runs, two earned, on five hits.
Bryce Hackett went 0.1 innings and gave up five runs, two earned, on four hits.
Hunter Marshall pitched the final 4.0 innings, giving up two runs and punching out five.
In the top of the 1st inning, UTA got runners on the corners with two outs but we're unable to capitalize. The Wolverines plated three runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 3-0.
The top of the 2nd inning ended with a double play to bring us to the bottom of the inning where the Wolverines scored eight runs to go up 11-0.
The Mavs couldn't catch a break in the top of the 3rd as they hit the ball hard but right at someone to go down in order. Utah Valley scored three more runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 14-0.
The 4th and 5th innings were scoreless for both teams. The top of the 6th inning saw the Mavs get two runners on before lining into a double play and a groundout to end the threat. The Wolverines would plate their last two runs of the game to make it 16-0.
The Mavs stranded two runners in the top of the 7th to end the game and season for the Mavs.
