ARLINGTON – Bringing nearly 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds from time as a starter at Kansas State, Missouri and most recently New Mexico State, high-scoring DaJuan Gordon has inked his commitment to join the UT Arlington men's basketball team, giving new head coach
KT Turner a second addition in the last week.
Â
A 6-5 guard, Gordon has totaled 909 points (8.1 average), 493 rebounds (4.4), 114 assists (1) and 126 steals (1.1) in 112 career games at the Division-I level, making 81 all-time starts.
Â
"DaJuan is an extremely versatile player who can affect the game in numerous ways," stated Turner of the Chicago native. "He has a good basketball IQ, can really guard on the defensive side and can pass and score at all three levels on the offensive end. He has really good size and great experience at the Power-5 level and also in the Western Athletic Conference already."
Â
In his first two years at Kansas State from 2019-21, the 195-pound Gordon played in 57 games and made 33 starts, including 11 as a true freshman in the COVID-shortened 2019-20 campaign.
Â
He averaged 6.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals en route to earning a spot on the Big 12 All-Rookie Team. Gordon was the only Wildcat freshman to appear in all 32 games and also garnered Spring 2020 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades. He reached double-figure points six times during the year, led by a 15-point outing against West Virginia.
Â
In 2020-21 with K-State, Gordon logged minutes in 25 games and started 22 during the COVID-impacted campaign. He averaged 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals, posting a team-high four double-doubles in 26.1 minutes per outing. Gordon reeled in at least five rebounds in 15 games, finishing as one of just four guards in the Big 12 to rank among the league's top-15 players in rebounding. He also notched 13 double-digit scoring performances, highlighted by an 18-point showing versus TCU.
Â
Following two seasons in Manhattan, Gordon transferred to Missouri for the 2021-22 campaign. Playing for the SEC member, Gordon started all 32 games, averaging 8.3 points, 4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 24.5 minutes per contest. He delivered 12 outings of double-figure points, scoring a career- and season-high 19 points on 7-9 shooting against LSU in the Second Round of the SEC Tournament.
Â
This past year with New Mexico State, Gordon averaged a career-high 9.3 points to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 23 games during a season which was canceled in early February. Gordon reached double-figure points 13 times, collected a double-double at Duquesne and was named to the Las Vegas Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team.
Â
At Curie Metropolitan High School in Chicago, Gordon compiled a 61-7 record and reached three-consecutive Class 4A state tournaments. As a senior in 2018-19, Gordon averaged 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals to lead the Condors to a 35-2 mark which featured both city and conference titles.
Â
A highly decorated high school performer, Gordon was named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association First Team All-State, USA Today First Team All-State, Chicago Sun-Times First Team All-State, Champaign News-Gazette First Team All-State and City/Suburban Hoops Report All-State.
